My name is Miguel Ángel Gómez Balbuena and I was born in Madrid (Spain).

 

Since I was little I have wanted to dedicate myself to the world of art and design. A few years ago I decided to study animation, and to finance my studies in this field, I began to work in all kinds of unskilled jobs (shops, hypermarkets, theme parks, fast food restaurants, etc.) and with the money I earned, I enrolled in the Animation Film Maker Course at the Madrid School of Professional Drawing (ESDIP). After three years enjoying this study program I finished it, but my fascination for this world led me to want to expand my knowledge and enroll in the Official Master in 3D Animation, Digital Postproduction and Nonlinear Editing of the Professional School of New Technologies in Madrid (CICE).

 

While I was working on my Final Master Project I decided to resume an old dream, to study Fine Arts. To do this, I prepared the entrance exam and after successfully passing it, I accessed said Degree at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). This program has not been the only one that I have taken at said institution, since after finishing it, with the aim of completing my artistic training specializing in design, I enrolled in the University Master of this specialty. The research carried out throughout those years for my Final Degree Project (TFG) and my Final Master Project (TFM) led me to want to go a little further and apply for admission to the Doctorate in Fine Arts.

 

Currently, I combine this task with my artistic production, in whose works I usually work with all kinds of creative expression techniques, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, animation, graphic design, etc. which is why I consider myself an all-terrain artist. The issues I deal with usually range from subjects that are kind to me such as fantastic worlds, mysterious dreams, childhood terrors, etc. even others that are less so, such as the economic, political and social situation that the world is going through at the moment.
